Hi Reader

To some, August signifies the height of summer. To others (Sarah here) we've stepped into a Swiftie classic once again. Apologies if you are a non-Swiftie living in the southern hemisphere 😂 Moving right along ... in this e-news...

August 2025:

Slow travel, smart living

August has always felt like the soul of summer for those of us in the northern hemisphere – a month to slow down, soak up the sun, and rediscover what matters most on the road. For digital nomads, house sitters, and seasoned travellers alike, this is the time to lean into what lights us up and take time to explore where we can.

In 2025, the big conversation isn’t about collecting passport stamps or working from the world’s busiest coffee shops. It’s about intentionally staying longer in each location, forming local connections, and embracing wellness routines – while still getting work done. Think fewer frantic check-ins and more mindful Mondays.

If you’re house sitting, use August’s longer days to explore your neighbourhood beyond the usual tourist trails. Take your laptop to a community garden or a local library, and try out new productivity tools like FocusPal, which syncs with your travel calendar to suggest the best hours for “deep work” based on local weather and events.

For nomads, trending travel forums are full of advice on digital sabbaticals – weekends without screens, spent hiking, cooking, or joining a community class. Not only does this help prevent burnout, but it also sparks creativity for your next project.

So wherever August finds you – city, coast, or countryside – remember: this is your season to reset, reconnect, and redefine what freedom looks like. Happy travels, happy house sitting, and here’s to your next adventure!

📍WHERE IN THE WORLD IS SPLIT, CROATIA?

“A hidden gem by the Adriatic…”

Split has become a favourite among digital nomads craving sunshine, sea views, and a relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle. With its blend of ancient Roman architecture, modern co-working spots, and island-hopping adventures, Split offers a beautiful and balanced base for remote work.

The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, yet just steps away you’ll find stylish cafés, seaside promenades, and a growing number of coworking hubs. Fast internet, a welcoming expat scene, and a new digital nomad visa make settling in surprisingly easy.

After work, take a dip in the Adriatic, explore the nearby islands of Hvar or Brač, or hike up Marjan Hill for sweeping views. With a relatively low cost of living and one of the most scenic settings in Europe, Split is perfect for digital nomads who want to mix productivity with a dolce vita lifestyle.

Freedom ListGet Remote Jobs Here | Live & Work From Anywhere. Hi Reader The moment everything changes... I’ve been having a few conversations lately with people who want more flexibility – more travel, more freedom, more control over how and where they work. But they’re all standing in the same place. Right on the edge of change. For some, it’s leaving a full-time job that feels safe but draining. For others, it’s the end of a contract with no clear next step. And underneath it all is the...

How to work and earn from anywhere :)

Freedom ListGet Remote Jobs Here | Live & Work From Anywhere. Hi Reader The digital nomad skill nobody talks about... Recently I’ve been speaking with a number of friends and travellers who are hoping to build enough remote work experience to travel more freely and for longer. But something interesting kept coming up in those conversations. It wasn’t skills. It wasn’t technology. It wasn’t even finding remote jobs. It was confidence in communication. Confidence to talk about what they do....

Would you like to work remotely in London, UK, pictured?

Freedom ListGet Remote Jobs Here | Live & Work From Anywhere. Hi Reader When have events outside your control disrupted your travel plans? I’ve been working in Australia during February and was due to head back to my base in the UK this past week. Instead, I was turned around mid-journey because of the sudden turmoil and airspace closures following the outbreak of war in the Middle East. Flights cancelled. Routes rerouted. Plans paused. It was a sharp reminder of something we don’t talk about...
