Hi Reader

Better House Sits Start With One Conversation

One of the busiest discussions in our Facebook group this week wasn't about where to house sit.

It was about communication.

The question was simple:

"Are daily pet photos a reasonable expectation?"

More than 90 people shared their thoughts in under a day.

Some homeowners love receiving daily updates and photos. Others are happy with a quick message every few days. Likewise, some sitters enjoy sending regular updates, while others feel constant check-ins can make it difficult to settle into the sit.

Reading through the comments, one thing became really clear.

There wasn't one right answer.

Because successful house sits aren't built on daily photos.

They're built on agreeing expectations before the sit begins.

How often will you communicate?

What does the pet's daily routine look like?

Who do you contact if something unexpected happens?

Are there any house rules or little things that are important to the homeowner?

These conversations might seem small, but they often make the biggest difference to how relaxed and enjoyable a sit becomes for everyone involved.

That's exactly why we've created our brand-new free resource.

Hi Reader Summer might be Europe's busiest travel season, but after living in the UK as Aussie expats for over 10 years now, we've discovered that some destinations are actually better once summer ends. The crowds thin out. Accommodation often becomes more affordable. Walking trails are quieter, cafΓ©s are easier to enjoy, and many places simply feel more authentic once the peak-season rush has gone. Whether you're planning a house...

Hi Reader Long House Sits: 3 Things Every Sitter Should Know A 2.5-month house sit sparked a really interesting conversation in our Facebook group this week. Someone who had just been offered the sit asked some questions about taking time away during a longer commitment, and whether homeowners might have someone local who could help if needed. The discussion was particularly interesting because many experienced sitters said these...
