Hi Reader

House sitting in 2026: clearer chats, better sits, happier pets

We’re doing a little tidy-up in our Facebook group this week to make it easier for house sitters and homeowners to actually find each other.

The plan is simple: one clean Monday Matchmaking thread where, if you are a sitter, please post your details, availability and experience – and homeowners can browse for a good match.

🌎Sitters: get in first and post your details in this week's thread here!

If you’re a homeowner with an upcoming sit, please go ahead and post it directly in the main feed now so the right people can see it.

You can visit the group here.

And while we’re on the topic of better matches, this week’s free resource is all about the conversation that happens before a sit.

Because honestly, so many house sitting issues come down to one thing: unclear expectations.

  • How often, and where, to update homeowners on their pet(s)?
  • What does the pet’s routine really look like?
  • Who handles emergencies?
  • Are there areas of the home that are off limits?
  • What happens if travel plans change?

These are all simple things – but they are much better discussed before the sit begins.

That’s why we’ve created a brand new free guide:

👉The Safe and Secure Pre-House-Sit Clarity Guide

It’s an ultimate conversation checklist for homeowners and house sitters, designed to help everyone feel clear, confident and prepared before a sit starts.

Download the free illustrated e-guide here.

If you’re a sitter, use it before your next confirmed sit.

If you’re a homeowner, use it before handing over your keys.

A smoother sit usually starts with a better conversation.

Hi Reader Summer might be Europe's busiest travel season, but after living in the UK as Aussie expats for over 10 years now, we've discovered that some destinations are actually better once summer ends. The crowds thin out. Accommodation often becomes more affordable. Walking trails are quieter, cafés are easier to enjoy, and many places simply feel more authentic once the peak-season rush has gone. Hi Reader Long House Sits: 3 Things Every Sitter Should Know A 2.5-month house sit sparked a really interesting conversation in our Facebook group this week. Someone who had just been offered the sit asked some questions about taking time away during a longer commitment, and whether homeowners might have someone local who could help if needed. The discussion was particularly interesting because many experienced sitters said these...
